A Royal Funk

Updated: Oct 24, 2019

Have you ever just been in a mood for no reason? Like you have every reason to smile, to be happy, to live your life to the fullest and you just aren't? Read below for some tips to get out of the funk- as told by someone trying to escape

1. Assess the situation

What exactly is the problem? Is this something that you can fix with some action? Do you need assistance? Can you call a trustworthy friend/ family member or do you need professional help?

My assessment showed me that I am the problem. My inaction to complete a particular task has created a cloud of uncertainty and ultimately has halted my progression. The longer and longer I push this task out the more grave the situation becomes and the more opportunities I miss out on- but have I started working on it yet? No.

When I ask myself why, the answer is that I am scared to fail. I have experienced some difficulty with this task before and I never was able to do it correctly. So I have developed a lot of anxiety around it.

Honestly, that is still just a huge excuse. We cannot allow fear to hold us back. Regardless of our comfort level, the job has to be done in order to move forward. There are no other options.

2. Eliminate Distractions

What are the things your are doing OTHER THAN the task you are supposed to be doing?

For me my phone was the biggest distraction. As a social media influencer, podcast host, beauty queen and content creator seems like I am always plugged in. If I'm not documenting my day on one of my social media stories, I am writing an article or prepping content for a brand. To actually accomplish the work I have to rid myself of distractions and get the job done!

How do you rid yourself of distractions? Tell me in the comments below!
