Gearing up for the upcoming Miss Fashion Global Pageant I thought I would be getting prepared by practicing my walk, gathering the necessary items for the competition, and securing my transportation. Little did I know I would be prepping for the fight of my life!
If yall only knew the crazy life this FlyyGirl Queen has been living these past few weeks you would be shook! I went home to Detroit to celebrate the home going of one aunt week before last and while I was there ANOTHER aunt passed away!
To make matters worse, the following week my brother fell ill and had to be hospitalized. If you know anything about me, my siblings are my EVERYTHING. They may as well be my children. As the oldest growing up I was more than the big sister. I was the teacher, the babysitter, the party planner, the chef and the one who knew were the fun was to be had always. Watching my brother's condition worsen leading to him being hospitalized was one of the hardest things that I ever have had to do.
Going through these hard times really tested my strength and endurance. As much as I preach to others, "DON'T GIVE UP" "KEEP GOING", I promise you all I wanted to do was give up and STOP GOING! Sometimes when all we can see in front of us is death and despair and depression giving up just seems like the next logical step. But THANK GOD I KEPT GOING!
I realized that I have never won a battle that was easy. Instead of giving up on my dreams because I couldn't clearly see a win, I listened to my supporters who encouraged me to move forward. The people who believed in me saw what I couldn't see, they saw victory!
The same day he was hospitalized I did something that I have been wanting to do forever, which was throw a princess party for girls with big dreams in the city of Detroit! As the Miss Fashion Global Curvy Queen I believe that is my duty to give back to the community that nurtured and poured into me for so long. Throwing this party in spite of all the chaos and turmoil that was around me was not just something that I wanted to do, it was something that I NEEDED to do.
I AM SO GLAD THAT I FOLLOWED MY HEART AND DID NOT ALLOW MY FEELINGS TO DICTATE MY ACTIONS!!!!
As you move forward in this week and wrap up this year, please remember who is in charge. Go back to your dreams, go back to your first love, remember where you came from and ask yourself are you doing the things today to set you on the path to where you need to be tomorrow? No matter what comes across your path, DO NOT GIVE UP!!!
Find the people who believe in you and allow them to speak into your life. Listen to motivational music and podcasts that reinforce the TRUTH about your situation. No matter where you are remember- if you don't give up YOU WILL NEVER LOSE!! Hang in there FlyyFam- VICTORY IS ON THE WAY!!!
