Bossing up with Twanita Dozier

From the moment Twanita and I connected, we have encouraged and inspired each other to be successful and chase our dreams passionately. She is the founder of Boss Up Magazine, a online magazine that features black owned business and gives them the platform to shine!

Q: Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with us Twanita! Can you tell us a little more

about yourself and background?

A: I am the Founder of Boss Up Magazine. Boss Up Magazine ® provides a platform for Black entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations to shine. The content within this magazine is not only informative, but full of motivation and inspiration. Me finding myself, relocating ALONE from Illinois to Virginia, and me almost being homeless has shaped me into the woman I am today.

Q: I am so glad that you kept pushing and you should be too- LOOK AT YOU NOW! Tell me, what is a day in your life like now? A: My life on a daily basis is pretty relaxed, mixed with random chaos here and there!

Q: Are you working on any new projects for your business? A: I am currently working on "The Boss Project" which is an expansion of my current magazine platform. I am also working on networking and re-branding my business.

Q: Good Stuff! If there were two things that brought you to where you are today, what would they be? A: Honestly, I would say discipline and determination. These two things have kept me grounded and focused.

Q: Amen to that! Those two will take you very far! Now I know you have been very successful but what has been your most proud moment in your career thus far? A: Planning, funding, and successfully completing my first networking event, within my niche.

Q: What advice would you give someone who aspires to follow in your footsteps, but is afraid to take that first step? A:I would tell them to go for it, but make sure they have a plan A, B, C, and D. You just never know what can be thrown at you!

Q: Another objective of this segment is to encourage travel. As this is a travel blog and I love traveling- my goal with with #FlyyGirlFriday is to show that everyone can travel. Whether it be in the states or abroad, black women are out here DOING IT What are some of the places you have been? A: I have been to Haiti, Jamaica, Belize, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. I have also traveled to Chicago, Las Vegas, New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Nashville, Kentucky, Maryland, and DC!

Q: Which one of those places were your favorite so far and why? A: My favorite trip so far would be Hawaii. I took that trip with my Husband and we had TONS of fun!

Q: What is your dream destination? A: My dream destination was Belize. I've always wanted to go there, so I made it my business to go for my 30th birthday! If I could do it again, I would go to Belize via a cruise ship.

Q: Belize sounds wonderful! Where to next? Any upcoming travel plans? A: My Husband and I plan to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary in Italy!

Q: Statistics have shown that black women and our dollar are the trendsetters of popular culture thus I really think that it is important that we support one another every chance we get. Can you tell me more about the Boss Project? A: Absolutely! The Boss Project is an expansion of my current platform. It is important for me because it allows me to create more resources for Black entrepreneurs and businesses.

Q: I love how you go all out to support black businesses! What inspired you to take the first step in this? A: What inspired me to take the first step was just seeing the lack of support of blacks in business, but what fuels me now is me. I am my own inspiration. My drive and motivation excites me to do my best!

Q: That is beautiful. Last question, How can we support you and your vision?

A: The best way to support my vision is by spreading the word, collaborating with me and being featured in my magazine. If someone is interested in being featured, they can simply email me at bossupmag@gmail.com.

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to talk with us, we will be sure to support you every chance we get!
